Data & AI courses — questions

Do I need a math or programming background to work in data?

Not for every role. Data analysis and BI start with Excel, SQL and clear thinking about business questions, which many people learn from scratch. Data science and machine learning require more statistics and Python, so it is common to begin with analysis, build confidence with data, and then move into modeling.

What is the difference between a data analyst and a data scientist?

A data analyst mainly answers questions about what happened and why, using SQL, Excel and dashboards. A data scientist builds statistical and machine learning models to predict outcomes or automate decisions, usually with Python. Both roles appear in postings in Egypt and the Gulf, and the skills on each posting show where the employer's emphasis lies.

Which data skills do Gulf employers ask for most?

Postings in Saudi Arabia and the UAE frequently mention SQL, Excel, Power BI or Tableau for analyst and BI roles, and Python with machine learning for data science roles. Communication and the ability to present findings to managers are also common. Each Job Academy posting shows its exact skill list and the courses that cover it.

Can I learn data analysis in Arabic?

Yes. Instructors on Job Academy teach in Arabic or English, and many data courses explain concepts in Arabic while working in English-language tools such as Excel, SQL and Power BI. Learning the English function names and terms alongside will help, since most job postings and documentation use them.

Are AI tools courses useful if I do not plan to work in tech?

Yes. The AI Tools for the Workplace track is designed for any role, from HR and sales to finance and administration. It focuses on writing effective prompts, using AI assistants responsibly and automating repetitive tasks, which can make everyday work faster regardless of your field.

About Data & AI

Data and AI courses on Job Academy teach the skills organizations need to make decisions from their data and to put artificial intelligence to practical use. Across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the wider GCC, banks, retailers, telecoms, healthcare groups and government programs are hiring people who can query, visualize and model data, and nearly every team is now expected to work with AI tools.

Four tracks in Data & AI

Data Analysis (Excel, SQL) covers cleaning messy data, writing SQL queries and building analysis in Advanced Excel, with an introduction to Python. Business Intelligence (Power BI, Tableau) teaches dashboard design, DAX calculations and visualization for BI Analysts and BI Developers. Data Science & Machine Learning goes deeper into statistics, Python and building predictive models. AI Tools for the Workplace is a cross-cutting track on prompt writing, AI productivity tools and workflow automation that applies to almost any job.

How data courses connect to job postings

Every job on Job Academy lists the skills it requires and links to the courses that teach them, and every course lists the jobs it leads to. If a Riyadh retailer wants a Reporting Analyst with SQL and Power BI, you can see both skills on the posting and go directly to the matching courses. When you finish, your Certificate of Completion attaches to your application and can be verified by the employer in one click. Applying for jobs never costs anything.

Who these courses are for

Accountants, marketers and operations staff who already work with spreadsheets often find data analysis a natural next step. Fresh graduates in business, engineering or statistics can use these tracks to target analyst roles. Experienced analysts can move toward BI development or machine learning. Courses are taught by practitioners in Arabic or English, they are free to join while payments are being set up, and applying for jobs is always free.
