Business Intelligence (Power BI, Tableau) courses — questions
Should I learn Power BI or Tableau?
Power BI is very common in organizations already using Microsoft tools, which describes many companies in Egypt and the Gulf. Tableau is also used, particularly in some larger enterprises and consultancies. Check BI postings on Job Academy for your target market; learning one well makes picking up the other much easier later.
How hard is DAX to learn?
Basic DAX measures such as sums, averages and simple filters come quickly, especially if you know Excel formulas. Concepts like filter context and time intelligence take longer and require practice on real models. Expect to keep improving your DAX over months of use rather than mastering it in a single course.
What does a BI developer do that a BI analyst does not?
A BI analyst focuses on understanding the business question, analyzing data and presenting insights through reports. A BI developer concentrates on the technical side: building data models, writing complex DAX, connecting sources and keeping datasets refreshed and performant. Smaller companies often combine both responsibilities in one role.
Do I need SQL to work in business intelligence?
Most BI roles benefit from SQL, because data usually lives in databases and you will need to extract and shape it before building dashboards. Some entry roles rely mainly on Power BI's own tools, but SQL appears on many BI postings in the region. Consider pairing a BI course with a SQL course.
About Business Intelligence (Power BI, Tableau)
Business intelligence courses on Job Academy show you how to turn company data into interactive dashboards and reports that managers check every week. BI professionals connect data sources, model them properly and design visuals that make performance easy to understand at a glance.
BI in Egyptian and Gulf organizations
Leadership teams in Saudi Arabia and the UAE increasingly track key performance indicators through dashboards, especially in banking, retail, healthcare, real estate and government programs. Egyptian companies and consultancies also build BI solutions for local and Gulf clients. Postings commonly ask for a BI Analyst, who focuses on analysis and reporting, or a BI Developer, who builds data models and the technical layer underneath.
What you will learn
Power BI courses cover importing and transforming data, building relationships between tables, and creating report pages with filters and drill-downs. DAX, the formula language in Power BI, lets you write measures such as year-over-year growth or running totals. Tableau courses teach a parallel approach with a strong focus on visual exploration. Data visualization principles run through everything: choosing the right chart, avoiding clutter and designing for the person who will read the dashboard.
From course to BI job
Every BI posting on Job Academy lists the skills it requires and the courses that teach them, so you can see whether an employer wants Power BI, Tableau or both. Finishing a course earns a Certificate of Completion that attaches to your applications and can be verified in one click.
These courses suit data analysts adding dashboards, finance and operations staff tired of manual reports, and professionals preparing for BI roles in the Gulf. Instructors are practitioners teaching in Arabic or English.
